Om Kolthoum, Daret Elayam 1/4 أم كلثوم، دارت الأيام
Some homework for my dear students of my next OM KOLTHOUM workshop:
May you have the pleasure to listen with FULL attention this first part of "Daret el ayem" and study the lyrics which you can have roughly translated at:
http://www.arabicmusictranslation.com/
We ' re ON for great work and unsuspected pleasures. Here we go on a beautiful, beautiful trip together...
I also suggest you research a bit about the meaning of three, apparently simple, words:
"nashwa", "tarab" and "saltana"...
Be prepared for a JOYride of a life time!
Going...
To Italy, this time!
Happy to do what I most LOVE to do on this earth: DANCING. With God s inspiration and support.Always aware of my borrowed gifts and GRATEFUL for them.
DANCING.
Performing it and teaching it.
Sharing my discoveries, pleasures, found treasures on the way, the fascinating path of becoming a DANCER (rather than BEING a dancer) because this art of BECOMING a DANCER is, for me, an unfinished work in progress.
Always starting from zero, always playing with totality and laughing at it all with the laughter of a child. Only that way I can enjoy the luxury God gives me of BECOMING a DANCER, closer and closer to the REAL THING that has been inside of me. All the way. Forever.
Up for some snow on the mountains, LOTS of exciting DANCE with students and happy moments I won t ever forget.
See you later, aligator!

I think I could, if I only knew how to begin.'
For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible."
Lewis Carroll, in: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"
(one of the books I have spread all over my home for instant peaks of inspiration and unexpected smiles).

"Daylight, full of small dancing particles and the one great turning, our souls are dancing with you, without feet, they dance.""Sama is the sacred whirling dance of the dervishes, in which the motions of the human body represent the movements of the Universe."
Rumi once said:"There are many ways to reach God. I have chosen music and dance as my path."
